Die Berliner revolutionäre 1. Mai Demonstration führte in diesem Jahr zum ersten Mal nicht durch Kreuzberg. Sie startete gegen 19 Uhr vom Wismarplatz aus und zog mit rund 10.000 TeilnehmerInnen ohne polizeiliche Anmeldung durch den Friedrichshainer Kiez. In der Rigaer Straße gab es Feuerwerk, Transparente, viel Pyrotechnik und Solidaritätsbekundungen. Die Demonstration selbst verlief friedlich und weitgehend ohne Zwischenfälle. An der massiv abgesperrten Warschauer Straße erklärte die Polizei die Demo für beendet. Es kam zu Zusammenstößen und etlichen Verhaftungen.
